With a fiber laser you can easily laser engrave a data matrix code in a large number of metals. Think of metal, stainless steel, aluminum, steel, gold, silver or titanium. A data matrix code can easily be read by a scanner. A data matrix code is a two-dimensional barcode, also written 2D barcode, usually a square monochrome "image" consisting of rather large square pixels that are black or white. The Data Matrix code looks to the left and below a row of black pixels and to the right and above a row of pixels that alternate between black and white.

It is no problem with MetaQuip fiber laser to laser engrave a data matrix code.
